This Cambridge Art Pottery ewer stands 4" high by 5" in diameter. It has a classic squat ewer form, with a ruffled rim, and a side handle connecting the rim and body. It was hand painted by an artist whose initials appear to be 'MW'. We do not know who the artist 'MW' was. There are a couple of vases online marked Cambridage Art Pottery with the MW initials, but no identification. Given the quality of this artistry, and the others viewed inline, the artist had talent, very precise and clear artwork. This ewer is glazed in a rich deep chocolate brown standard glaze, and decorated with Pansie blossoms, in very complementary slip colors, with rich green leaves, very handsome indeed. The glazes are vibrant and rich, and finished to a glossy sheen. According to the references, Harold Bennett, a principal in the company, Standard glaze brown ware was only produced in 1902. This ewer is well marked 'Cambridge', along with the CAP logo incised, and its shape number 206. The artist's initials 'MW' are noted just under the handle, very clear initials, as can be seen in the photos. It is guaranteed to be vintage Cambridge Pottery, circa 1902. This attractive vessel is in original condition, with minimal handling wear, and no apologies, except for the glare in the photos. The finish is vibrant and uniform, not spotted as the glare suggests, it's gorgeous in hand. This well-marked Cambridge, hand-painted pot makes a very handsome presentation!
