This impressive Common Ground Pottery vase by Eric Olson stands 7.5" high by 6.5" in diameter, by 3.5" at the rim. It has a classic full-bodied ball form. Best of all, it is decorated with an incised design, with a number of elongated felines adorning the center band, all in a race to the finish! The Cats are on a gray and brown speckled ground, and framed by a sea of green, above and below, in a wonderful Arts and Crafts presentation. This vessel is glazed in earthtone glazes, and finished to a smooth satin mat. This vessel is signed by Eric Olson and dated 2006, along with its Common Ground Pottery cartouche and a shape number that appears to be '353'. There are initials, which appear to be 'J.T.', but I cannot identify them. Perhaps, they belong to an assisstant. This vase is in original condition, with the usual glaze nuances of studio pots, but no apologies. Eric Olson is a contemporary studio potter, from Vero Beach, Florida, whose pots are truly one of a kind. In fact, his tag line is "One of a kind, one at a time." This pot's design is a favorite among collectors and Eric Olson did it well.
