This scarce and very handsome set of Muncie Pottery Owl bookends stand 5.25" high by 6.25" across by 1.75" wide. They have a wonderfully angular flattish broad plinth form, embossed with highly stylized Owls with wings at the ready in high relief. Best of all, they are glazed in a drippy blue over rose glaze, which lays on this set beautifully. The organic blue glaze runs randomly over the rose, and pools in a crystalline-like presentation at the platform base. The design is stunning in its presentation, which has a 'pick-me-up' attitude that is hard to resist. Muncie Pottery produced few bookend forms, and this set is awesome in its design and presentation. This set is unmarked, but is guaranteed to be vintage Muncie Pottery c1930. This 'Wise Owl' bookend set is in original factory condition,with the usual glaze anomolies, but no apologies. They make a stunningly handsome Art Deco presentation.
