This impressive Art Deco Pilkington Royal Lancastrian vase stands a tall 10.75" high by 5.5" across by 4" in diameter at the base, and 4" at the rim. It has a very shapely and statuesque form, with a round platform base. Best of all, it is glazed in a luscious orange vermilion splotchy glaze, finished in a semi-gloss/satin finish. This beauty is well marked on the base with the usual hallmarks. This vase dates to c1920-1933 and was made in England. The Royal Lancastrian Pottery company was an innovative producer of decorative pottery. Per their history, their lustre wares at the turn of the 19th century into the 20th century brought them lasting fame. By 1903, the company had developed its opalescent ceramic glaze which was named 'Lancastrian Ware' and was being sold at Tiffany's. In 1913, King George V and Queen Mary saw several pieces on display and were so impressed with them that they gave their permission to grant the company a royal warrant. The company was then renamed The Pilkington's Royal Lancastrian Pottery Company. This vase is in original condition, no apologies.
