This rich and very handsome Rick Freiwald Lunar Moth vase stands a respectable 9" high by 5" in diameter, a full-bodied pot. Rick Freiwald lives in NJ, where he teaches art, and also runs his pottery studio. Rick's range of work is amazing, not just in form, but also in his glazes, which range from matte to lustrous iridized glazes. This Lunar Moth vase hails from a series of vessels designed by Rick Freiwald, some are winged insects, or birds and others are winged mammals, all are amazingly organic in their presentation and each is one-of-a-kind because they are produced by Rick's hands, and glazed in a palette of wonderfully rich and organic colors. This potter has 'clay' in his veins, and it can be felt when you hold one of his pots! This vessel is glazed in a nice combination of green and brown glazes covered in a subtle oatmeal frost, with a creamy-glazed Lunar Moth with brown markings nearly covering a full moon. This vessel is marked with Rick's seal and signature, and guaranteed to be authentic Freiwald Art Pottery. It dates to the mid-1990s-early 2000s. This vase is in studio original condition, no apologies. If you are a fan of Rick's work, this vase will make a wonderful addition to your collection!
