This Rookwood Standard Glaze flower basket stands 7" high by 11" long by 9"wide. It has a very unusual form, shape 360B, designed by John Menzel and called a 'Flower Basket' in the references. It is indeed a flower basket, a large and most impressive vessel, for sure. It has a broad basket form with a thick handle arcing over the basket. It was decorated by Artus Van Briggle, whicse tenure at the Rookwodd Pottery was from 1887-1901. He decorated this vessel with what appear to be Snowberries and leaves in exacting precision. The glaze colors are gorgeous in shaded honey golden amber undertones, and deep, rich green and chocolate brown, with expertly executed artwork under a veil of glaze, simply beautiful. This beauty is well marked and dated with six flames, dating this basket to1892. Artus Van Briggle's initials/cipher 'AVB/L are noted on the base, along with the Rookwood logo and shape number 360B. There is an impressed 'W' for white clay. This beautiful vessel is in amazingly original factory condition, no apologies. The shadows in the photos are from camera glare, the glaze finish is very uniform.  This very large and impressive flower basket makes a beautiful presentation! Actual shipping will be based upon your zip code.
