This Rookwood Production wallpocket stands 8.5" high by 4" across by 3" wide. It has an awesome large Asian-inspired form of a Locust or better known as Cicada to collectors. This wallpocket was designed by Kataro Shiriyamadani, one of Rookwood's most accomplished artists, who spent his career at the Rookwood Pottery. It is glazed in an organic mat brown glaze that thins at the high points, accenting the form and design handsomely. It has a wonderfully masculine feel to it. This wall vase is well marked and it is dated 1922, shape number 1636. This handsome pocket is in factory original condition, with an 'x' for a natural clay seam over the hanger hole and a glaze bubble, which we show in the photos. The no harm glaze bubble is just at the side edge, not visible from the front. The clay seam over the hanger hole is fused with glaze. These factory issues do not affect the presentation of this lovely Asian-inspired bug. If you collect Rookwood Pottery, this guy will have all of your other Rookwood pieces 'abuzz' with excitement!
