This beautiful Rookwood Decorated Mat/Double Vellum vase stands 6.25" high by 2.5" in diameter. It has a slender form, flaring at the rim. This vessel is decorated with Raspberries and leaves on the upper third of the vase, which are superbly executed. It was hand painted by one of Rookwood's prized female artists, Miss Katherine Jones, whose tenure at Rookwood Pottery was from 1924 to 1931, according to the references, but this pot is clearly initialed by Jones and it is dated 1923. She chose a beautiful palette of colors, in a lush rosey ground, with beautifully complementary colors in the decoration. This vase is well marked with the Rookwood logo, and dated 1923, as noted, in Roman Numerals, and it is initialed by Katherine Jones on the base, along with its shape number 2721. This beauty is in original condition, no apologies. If you like Katherine Jones' art, this is a beautifully stunning example of Rookwood Pottery!
