This Rookwood Decorated Mat Vellum vase stands 7.25" high by 3.5" in diameter at the rim, and 3" in diameter at the base. It has a classic form, with a shelf collar. This vase was decorated by one of Rookwood's finest female artists, Miss Margaret Helen McDonald, a native of Cincinnati, who spent her career at the Rookwood Pottery. She decorated this vessel with sweet red blossoms and green leaves over a yellow ochre ground, and she nailed the glaze effect beautifully. The glaze colors are absolutely gorgeous. This beauty is well marked with the Rookwood logo, shape number 1356E, and dated 1925. Margaret McDonald's initials are noted on the base. This vessel is in original condition, no apologies.
