This Rookwood Decorated Mat/Double Vellum vase stands 6.5" high by 4" in diameter. It has a very handsome form, a design by John D. Wareham. It was decorated by Elizabeth Barrett, whose tenure at the Rookwood Pottery was from 1924-1948. This vase is decorated with a garland of Wild Rose blossoms encircling the midline of the pot. It is glazed in a very handsome ruby/ plum ground, shading light and dark, with red blossoms and green leaves. Like many of Barrett's pots, this vessel has an awesome glaze effect that covers this pot from tip to toe. It has a satin mat finish. This pot is shape number 2720, and it is dated 1925, along with the standard Rookwood cipher on the base. It bears Barrett's initials cipher, a cojoined stylized 'EB' on the base. This vase is in original factory condition, no apologies. This handsome Wareham-designed Barrett pot makes a wonderful Arts & Crafts presentation!
