This Rookwood Iris Glaze vase stands 7" high by 3.5" in diameter, tapering to 2.5" in diameter at the rim. It has a very classic form with a cinched collar. This beauty was decorated by one of Rookwood's best artists, Mr. Ed Diers, whose tenure at the Rookwood Pottery lasted from 1896-1931. He decorated this vase with gorgeous Pansy blossoms, which are stunning on this vessel. The artwork is exquisite, with superb precision and depth in the blossoms. The body blushes from charcoal gray at the rim to creamy white at the base. It is one of those pots that begs to be touched. This vase is well marked and dated 1902, a great period for Rookwood Iris-glazed pots. Diers' initials are noted on the base, along with the Rookwood logo and its shape number 917D. This vase is in original condition, with fine generalized factory crazing. If you favor Rookwood Iris Glazes, this one is a beauty.
