This impressive and quite scarce Rookwood Black Opal glaze vase stands a tall 11" high by 5.5" in diameter at the flared rim, and 3.5" in diameter at the platform base. It has a stately tall and handsome form. This vase was designed by John D. Wareham and decorated by Miss Sara Sax, who spent her art career at the Rookwood Pottery, from 1896-1931. This vessel is decorated with what appear to be apples and leaves, but it could be peaches, you decide. The glaze colors are very rich and very deep, and it is finished to a mirror gloss. We show images in our usual photo cube and a couple from our deck to show difference of lighting. This vessel is well marked with the Rookwood logo and dated 1926. It is shape number 2787, and bears Sara Sax's ‘Sx’ cipher, and guaranteed to be an authentic Rookwood Black Opal Glaze pot. The bottom is glazed in the telltale gray glaze of the ‘Flambe'/Black Opal' line. This vessel, in an exquisite glaze line, is in original factory condition, no apologies.
