This Weller early Perfecto vase stands an impressive 14.5" high by 4" in diameter for the body, 2.25" in diameter at the rim. It has a very classic and slender form with a collared rim. This vase is beautifully decorated with Rose blossoms in yellow and a combination bloom in pink/rose, with intricately hand painted leaves, buds and stems dominating the front side of the vase. The finish is a flat, dull mat. Perfecto was a hand painted line in which the artists painted using slip. The artwork was executed by William A. Long and it bears his cipher/initials on the lower left side of the vessel. The artwork is exquisitely detailed, with beautifully defined blossoms and leaves, which look as if you could pick them off the vase…fine, fine artwork by Mr. Long, whose love affair with pottery began early in his life. This vase, which is simply stated, yet so elegant, has a beautiful presence! It is glazed in a gorgeous blushed cream to apricot underglaze, with a gray blush from the rim to just past the shoulders. The thick slip adds nicely to its presentation. This vase is marked with the shape number 570, along with a stray 2 just under the shape number, and a 9 above. This vessel is guaranteed to be vintage Weller Perfecto, a shape noted in Frank Norman's Weller Pottery: A Clearer Vision on page 190 as form 570 01 on an example of Rhead Faience of the same period. It is in factory original condition, with the usual mold lines and just normal handling marks. This vessel would grace any collection, it is simply stated, yet stunning!
